La spada dei Kamui è un film del 1985 diretto da Rintarō.
Giappone, XIX secolo. Il governo dei Tokugawa, costretto a riaprire il Paese agli stranieri dopo duecento anni di isolamento, si trova dilaniato da lotte interne. In uno sperduto villaggio del nord, il giovane Jiro viene accusato di aver sterminato la sua famiglia. Costretto a fuggire, trova rifugio presso Tenkai, un gigantesco monaco guerriero, che lo addestra alle più raffinate tecniche del ninjutsu. Ma Tenkai ha altri fini: è infatti alla ricerca di qualcosa di molto prezioso, le cui tracce si perdono però tra le leggende tramandate nei villaggi degli ainu, e forse ancora più lontano. Solo qualcuno ridotto alla più totale disperazione potrebbe trovare la chiave del mistero. E Tenkai è pronto a scaraventare Jiro nella disperazione più nera.
