Steve vive in un tranquillo centro residenziale assieme alla moglie Diane e i figli Carol Anne, Robbie e Dana. Una sera Carol Anne viene sorpresa mentre sta parlando con qualcuno all'interno del televisore e per tutta risposta, comunica alla famiglia che "sono arrivati". Poi Carol Anne scompare misteriosamente, anche se la sua voce continua ad udirsi nella casa.
