Ren (Bacon), appassionato di musica e ballerino entusiasta, trapiantato da Chicago a Bomont, una piccola città di provincia, si ritrova nell'impossibilità di dedicarsi ai suoi svaghi prediletti. In città imperversa infatti un pastore che vede nel ballo un'attività peccaminosa e lo combatte aspramente. Ren però non ci sta e, con l'aiuto della giovane figlia del pastore, Ariel (Singer), innamorata di lui, scatena una vera e propria ribellione giovanile.
