Un agente inglese organizza la rivolta contro i portoghesi in un'isola caraibica e dieci anni più tardi torna per uccidere José Dolores, l'uomo che lui stesso aveva scelto come capo della rivoluzione. Un po' confuso, ma visivamente affascinante. Brando è perfetto nel ruolo. Gillo Pontecorvo spreca un buon soggetto per rendere subito evidente la sua metafora politica (in piena guerra del Vietnam).
