Un giovane pistolero, ferito in uno scontro, viene nascosto e curato dagli artisti di un circo. L'uomo è inseguito da fuorilegge che vogliono appropriarsi della sua concessione aurifera. La vendetta dei banditi colpisce un acrobata, ma da quel momento il pistolero e i suoi nuovi amici circensi passano al contrattacco. La resa dei conti avverrà durante uno spettacolo, con l'aiuto dei minatori locali. La famosa coppia in un western pre-Trinità, dove già trovano spazio le prime tentazioni parodistiche. Colizzi amministra senza particolari guizzi gli stereotipi.
