Dopo aver portato a termine una pericolosa missione, James Bond viene incaricato di scoprire gli organizzatori e le ragioni di un misterioso traffico di diamanti, che minaccia di sconvolgere il mercato mondiale. Sotto la falsa identità di Peter Franks, uno dei corrieri della banda, Bond non tarda a individuarne il capo, la bella Tiffany Case, la cui organizzazione, sta da tempo subendo l'attacco di sconosciuti avversari. Alleatosi con Tiffany, Bond scopre che i diamanti trafugati sono finiti in un laboratorio spaziale, e utilizzati nella costruzione di un satellite trasformato in un micidiale strumento capace di distruggere l'intero armamento nucleare delle Grandi Potenze. A ideare l'ordigno è stato Ernest Stavros Blofeld, che vuole imporre al mondo il disarmo e la pace. Scoperta la base di Blofeld Bond l'attacca e con l'aiuto di Tiffany la distrugge.
