Psychoderelict è un concept album scritto, prodotto e progettato da Pete Townshend. Alcuni personaggi e problemi presentati in questo lavoro sono proseguiti nel successivo opus di Townshend The Boy Who Heard Music, presentato per la prima volta sull'album degli Endless Wire di The Who e poi adattato come musical rock.

Questo è l'ultimo album solista di Townshend fino ad oggi.
Una performance del primo tour solista nordamericano di Townshend è stata trasmessa in diretta dal teatro della Brooklyn Academy of Music di New York nell'agosto 1993. Il concerto è stato diviso in tre parti: una sessione di apertura di otto canzoni, una performance completa di Psychoderelict e un bis di altre cinque canzoni.
La performance è stata rappresentata da PBS Great Performances e diretto da Richard Barnes e Bruce Gowers. È stato successivamente pubblicato come doppio CD chiamato Pete Townshend Live BAM 1993 e un DVD NTSC per tutte le regioni nel 2006, intitolato Pete Townshend Live a New York con Psychoderelict. Il DVD includeva un'intervista con Pete Townshend diretta da Barry Barnes e registrata appositamente per questa uscita nel settembre 2005.
