La Roxy Music era una delle band più interessanti degli anni '70. Ma hanno prodotto così tanti diversi tipi di musica che sono una band difficile da definire. Inizialmente, erano un atto di arte rock (Bryan Ferry era un ex insegnante di scuola d'arte) e il loro primo concerto si è tenuto in una scuola d'arte. Pochissime band erano o sono mai state artistiche come la Roxy Music c. 1973 e le prime esibizioni con Eno vestito con le sue famigerate piume di pavone sono rivelazioni per l'occhio e l'orecchio. Ma con la partenza di Eno dopo il secondo album, sono diventati un altro gruppo e, per alcuni, meno interessante, una band. (È interessante notare che Eno afferma che il suo album Roxy preferito è il terzo, Stranded, quello che hanno fatto subito dopo la sua partenza).
