Dopo aver rovesciato l'impero di un boss a Rio, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) e Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) si sono dedicati a girare il mondo, impossibilitati come sono a rientrare a casa e a riprendere tutto ciò che si sono lasciati alle spalle. Nel frattempo, Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) è incappato invece nel caso di un'organizzazione di piloti criminali, il cui capo (Luke Ewans) è coadiuvato da una donna che si rivela essere Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), l'ex di Dom che tutti credevano morta.
