Nel 2977, dopo che una sanguinosa guerra intergalattica li ha esiliati dalla Terra per diversi anni, gli esseri umani ripongono ogni loro fiducia in capitan Harlock con l'auspicio di riappropriarsi del loro pianeta finito nelle mani della corrotta coalizione Gaia. Capitan Harlock e i membri dell'equipaggio dell'incrociatore Arcadia sperano di scoprire i segreti che la coalizione ha tenuto nascosti.
